PRESS RELEASE - CITY OF HARPER RECEIVES CDBG-CV FUNDS FOR LOCAL BUSINESSES

The City of Harper is pleased to report that we have been awarded a Community Development Block Grant –CV of $132,000.00 through the Kansas Small Cities Community Block Grant Coronavirus Supplement Program administered by the Kansas Department of Commerce Community Development Division.

The Economic Development grant is to provide funding to help local businesses retain jobs for low-to-moderate income people by covering working capital expenses such as inventory, wages, and utilities.  It will also assist in aiding businesses who were forced to close or reduce employees and inventory.

To meet the grants period of performance, applications will be made available on the commencement date of the CDBG-CV grant which is officially June 15th, 2020.  Applications may be picked up at City Hall or printed from our city website; www.cityofharper.com.

 

Criteria for eligibility:

  • Business MUST be in the city limits of Harper
  • 51% of employees (including business owner) must meet the low to moderate income guidelines
  • Business MUST have been established before March 1, 2020
  • Funds expended before March 1, 2020 will not be eligible
  • Farmers / Ranchers not eligible since funds are available through the USDA
  • Must not have received an Economic Injury Disaster Loan through the Small Business
